Non-Wi-Fi Interference (NWI)
The third and the last type of interference is Non-Wi-Fi Interference (NWI). This is an interference from devices not using Wi-Fi but emits signals in the same channel. Not sure if anyone need analogy here, but for the sake of completeness, this is like someone in your household watching TV, talking over the phone i.e. making sounds but not music related.
The actual NWI sources include:
- Bluetooth
- Cordless phone
- Microwave
- Digital security camera, baby monitor
- ZigBee
Some are low in prevalence but high in severity for interference. Others are high in prevalence but low in severity for interference (ref, ref). Fortunately, bluetooth and Zigbee, which may be prevalent in high-tech household are considered high prevalence low severity type of interference.
